Solidarity Statement with the Cuban Revolution

January 15, 2025

From the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya

The Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya salutes the heroic Cuban people and their enduring revolution on the occasion of the United States’ decision to finally remove Cuba from the list of so-called “State Sponsors of Terrorism.” While this decision is long overdue, it cannot erase decades of suffering, injustice, and sabotage inflicted on Cuba by the imperialist aggression of the U.S.

Cuba was never meant to be on this list. The designation was not only baseless but also a weapon of economic and political warfare designed to undermine Cuba’s sovereignty and revolutionary achievements. It is the U.S., not Cuba, that has a well-documented history of supporting and abetting terrorism globally. From arming counter-revolutionary terrorists in Latin America to facilitating groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS, the U.S. has consistently demonstrated its hypocrisy.

Cuba, on the other hand, has been a beacon of international solidarity and peace. Its internationalist spirit shone brightly in Africa, where Cuban blood mingled with the soil of Angola, Namibia, and other nations in the fight against colonialism and apartheid. The sacrifices of Cuban internationalists remain a source of pride and an indelible bond between the African continent and the Cuban Revolution. Africa will never forsake Cuba, for we owe a profound debt of gratitude to this nation that stood with us when the colonialists sought to enslave us further.

The removal of Cuba from the U.S. terrorism list is not enough. The world must demand full accountability for the decades-long blockade and the suffering it has caused. The economic and financial blockade, a crime against humanity, has cost Cuba billions of dollars and deprived its people of essential goods and opportunities. Who will compensate for these losses? Who will answer for the lives lost and livelihoods destroyed by this imperialist aggression?

The U.S. must immediately repeal all laws enforcing this unjust blockade.

As the founder of the Kenya-Cuba Solidarity Committee, CPM Kenya reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the Cuban Revolution. We stand with Cuba in demanding an end to the blockade, the restoration of its rightful place in the global community, and the acknowledgment of its immense contributions to humanity.

The Cuban Revolution is irreversible. Neither the remnants of Batista’s regime nor their imperialist sponsors in Miami and Washington will ever succeed in reversing the gains of socialism in Cuba. The solidarity of the world’s peoples, especially those of Africa, ensures that Cuba’s struggle remains a shared fight against imperialism and injustice.

Long live the Cuban Revolution!

Down with Imperialism!

Forward to Global Solidarity!
