Statement by Comrade Booker Omole, General Secretary of the Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya
The Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya unequivocally condemns the reactionary and anti-people actions of the newly installed jihadist regime in Syria, a government birthed in Washington, Tel Aviv, and NATO headquarters, then imposed upon the Syrian people under the guise of democracy. This so-called new dawn is nothing more than a dark night of intensified imperialist plunder, a dictatorship wrapped in the deceptive rhetoric of Western liberalism, and a betrayal of Syria’s national sovereignty.
On January 29, the jihadist administration of Syria, under the leadership of the Islamist puppet Ahmed al-Sharaa (formerly Al-Jolani), banned the Communist Party of Syria and other parties that were part of the National Progressive Front. This act, which exposes the dictatorship’s fear of revolutionary forces, is a direct assault on the Syrian working class and their struggle for liberation. A government installed by US imperialism and defended by the Zionist entity of Israel can only serve one function; to deepen the suffering of the people while entrenching capitalist exploitation, sectarian strife, and foreign domination.
The hypocrisy of Western imperialism is not lost on us. The same forces that proclaimed ‘democracy’ in Kenya’s multiparty transition ensured that communism remained illegal, proving that their idea of democracy is merely a tool to mask the dictatorship of capital. Likewise, in Syria, this new administration has not ushered in democracy but has only reaffirmed that no dictatorship; whether cloaked in religious fanaticism or capitalist liberalism; will ever allow the legal space for the masses to overthrow them. The lesson is clear: genuine change will never be handed down from above. It must be seized from below through the organised force of the revolutionary masses.
The Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya stands in unwavering solidarity with the Syrian Communist Party and the heroic Syrian people. The banning of communist activities is only a desperate move to suppress the inevitable; the revolutionary overthrow of this jihadist regime and the complete expulsion of imperialism from Syrian soil. This moment must serve not as a setback but as a clarion call to deepen revolutionary work among the Syrian masses. The task ahead is clear: consolidate revolutionary forces, organise for the decisive battle, and prepare to uproot both the jihadist government and its imperialist masters.
The history of the Syrian communist movement, dating back to the founding of the Syrian-Lebanese Communist Party in 1924, has always been one of resistance, struggle, and unwavering commitment to the people. No ban, no repression, and no imperialist puppet regime can erase this legacy. The reactionary government’s attempts to silence communists only prove one thing; they fear the people. And rightfully so, for history has shown time and again that when the working class rises, no force can stop them.
The battle ahead will be hard, but it is the most fulfilling of all. The Syrian communists must strike even deeper into the masses, strengthen underground structures, and prepare for the final blow against this imperialist-backed jihadist dictatorship. The oligarchy will not be negotiated out of power. US imperialism and its Zionist guard dogs will not leave Syria through petitions. Only a revolutionary struggle, forged in the fires of mass mobilisation and class struggle, will secure the full liberation of Syria.
The Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya pledges its full solidarity with the Syrian Communist Party and all forces resisting imperialist domination. From Kenya to Syria, from Palestine to the Congo, the struggle against imperialism is one!
Down with the US-backed Jihadist dictatorship in Syria!
Down with imperialism and Zionism!
Long live the Syrian Communist Party!
Long live the struggle for a socialist Syria!
Booker Omole
